A short checklist
for the home.
Start with your attorney’s instructions. You can call even when some records are still missing.
- Address and property identification. A township assessment record or Camden County deed you already hold may help.
- Valuation date and purpose. Bring the instructions from your attorney and say who needs the report.
- Changes to the house. List additions, major renovations and approximate dates; gather plans or permits you already have.
- Condition history. Note known problems, repairs underway and any earlier photographs relevant to a past valuation date.
- Existing property information. An earlier appraisal, survey or floor plan may help explain the home.
- Access and deadline. Identify who can arrange the visit and any report-delivery date you are working toward.
Keep the appraisal request focused.
Ask which mortgage or other financial records belong with the appraiser and which your attorney needs for the settlement. A home appraisal addresses property value; business interests or personal property may need a separate specialist.
You do not need to assemble the entire case file before calling. Describe what you have and what is missing, then discuss the report, availability and quote.
